Monier Sharif, a distinguished Full Professor of Veterinary Pathology at Omar Al-Mukhtar University in Libya, has a rich academic and administrative background. He completed his veterinary medicine studies at the University of Tripoli and earned his German doctoral degree from Justus Liebig-Giessen University in 2006, along with the German Board in Veterinary Pathology from the state of Hesse, Germany. In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Monier Sharif has held various significant governmental administrative positions. He has served as the Head of the Department of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement at the College of Veterinary Medicine, a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Animal Health, General Coordinator of Municipalities during Emergency Periods, and Military Governor. Furthermore, he has held the position of First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Marine Resources. Professor Sharif's contributions extend beyond academia and administration. He is a prolific author, with numerous scientific articles to his name, and serves as a reviewer for various national and international journals. Additionally, he is a member of the advisory board of Al-Mukhtar Journal of Science at Omar Al-Mukhtar University and has supervised numerous research projects, including those focused on Zoonotic parasitic fish diseases, Prion diseases, toxic and herbal plants, and Pufferfish Pathology. Since 2012, Professor Sharif has been an active member of the Libyan National Committee on Biosafety and Bioethics (LNCBB), where he serves as the coordinator of training programs and holds the position of Vice-Chair. He has represented Libya multiple times (2019, 2021, and 2023) as the head and member of the Libyan delegation to expert meetings of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) at the United Nations. In March 2023, Professor Sharif assumed the role of Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Sciences at the Libyan Academy for Postgraduate Studies, Jabal Al-Akhdar Branch. Currently, he also serves as an advisor to the Director General of the Libyan Agricultural and Animal Research Center.
