Motivation Statement
MENA Health Security Association (MHSA) is a non-profit organization established to promote and enhance health security awareness, knowledge, capacities, and practices across the Middle East and North Africa region and beyond through building networks of health security experts and advocates to enhance the communication, collaboration, and coordination among its members, the scientific communities, professional organizations, government entities, and international bodies to foster a culture of health security. The Association will communicate with, assist, support, and represent national bodies and entities across the various health security domains to enhance experience sharing and encourage information sharing and joint preparedness and response measures. The Association will develop and provide training, education, and consultation to build capacity and advance research to address emerging and re-emerging biological hazards and challenges and support and assist in implementing the Biological Weapons Convention and the United Nations Resolution 1540 and other relevant international instruments. Additionally, the Association will increase awareness about Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC), Medical Countermeasures, Protecting Valuable Biological Material, One Health and Zoonotic Diseases, and other relevant fields. The Association will develop training, certification, and accreditation programs to achieve its goals and act as a regional platform for standardizing terms, laws, regulations, and curricula across different countries.
